In fractured rock, the average is the wrong answer.
Groundwater does not move uniformly through bedrock. It moves through discrete fractures, sometimes millimetres wide, that carry almost all of the flow — and almost all of the contamination. A sample drawn from a long open borehole blends them together and reports a number that exists nowhere in the formation.
High-resolution characterization is the practice of resolving those intervals individually: find the fractures, isolate them, test them, and monitor them separately. Everything below this depth is how EDN does that.

Straddle Packer Testing
Earth Data Northeast offers turn-key packer testing services featuring an extensive inventory of packers, data logging instrumentation and sampling pumps.
Packer testing, interpretation and reporting are performed by experienced geoscientists. Systems can be configured for short-term testing or permanent installations.

Multi-Level Monitoring
Multi-Level groundwater monitoring systems allow for the collection of hydraulic head pressure and water quality data from a single borehole instead of multiple wells of varying depths.
EDN is a distributor of Solinst's Waterloo Multilevel Groundwater Monitoring System.
The Waterloo System reduces project costs and time in the field, with fewer drilled holes, reduced site disturbance, smaller purge volumes, and faster sampling.
PFAS vertical profiling
The combination of EDN's borehole geophysical logging and packer testing services with multi-level technology provides a vertically integrated and cost effective strategy for groundwater characterization and monitoring for a wide array of contaminants including perfluorinated alkyl substances (“PFAS”).

He manages business operations and offers project coordination, consultation, and technical litigation support.

Mr. Kirsch has over 35 years of experience in geological/environmental & technical services. He oversees field service operations, specializing in subsurface evaluation and testing programs in complex environments, including those affected by chlorinated solvents and perfluorinated chemicals in groundwater.

Technical Services Manager
Mr. Seidman has over 20 years of experience in the development, coordination, and implementation of geological/environmental subsurface evaluations and investigations. He manages Westbay Instruments product distribution and installation across the United States, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.
