Borehole Geophysical Logging

EDN conducts borehole geophysical logging services and video surveys using downhole equipment and trained personnel that continue to set the industry standard.

These services are conducted 24/7, in response to our customers' needs for timely and efficient data collection.

Log interpretation and analysis are available on request — the same geoscientists who run the tools in the field read the results and write them up.

Tool inventory

Sixteen tools, and what each one tells you.

Log interpretation and analysis are available on request. Suites are assembled per hole — casing, fluid and formation decide which tools go down.

01

Fluid Temperature

Locates inflow and outflow zones by the thermal signature of water entering the borehole.

02

Fluid Conductivity

Distinguishes water of different chemistry entering the hole at different depths.

03

3-Arm Caliper

Measures borehole diameter — finds washouts, fractures and casing condition.

04

Natural Gamma

Correlates stratigraphy and identifies clay-rich units through casing.

05

Short (16") & Long (64") Normal Resistivity

Two depths of investigation into the formation for lithology and fluid character.

06

Single Point Resistance

High-vertical-resolution log for picking fracture and bedding contacts.

07

Spontaneous Potential

Indicates permeable zones and relative formation-water salinity.

08

Acoustic Televiewer

Oriented 360° acoustic image of the borehole wall — strike and dip of every fracture, including in opaque fluid.

09

Optical Televiewer

Oriented 360° true-colour image of the borehole wall in clear water.

10

Color Borehole Video Survey

Downhole video for direct visual inspection of the hole, casing and screen.

11

Heat Pulse Flowmeter

Measures low-rate vertical flow in the borehole under ambient and pumped conditions.

12

Brine Tracing

Tracks an injected saline slug to identify flow zones and cross-connection.

13

Induction

Formation conductivity through PVC casing, where electric logs cannot be run.

14

Full Waveform Sonic

Acoustic velocity and amplitude for rock quality and fracture characterization.

15

Cement Bond Log

Verifies the annular seal behind casing.

16

Idronaut CDT303 Water Quality Probe

Downhole conductivity, depth and temperature profiling with a precision multiparameter probe.

Tell us about the borehole.

Depth, casing, formation, what you are chasing and when you need to be in the field. A geoscientist will come back to you — not a form response.
